Who we are
The story of Westwind Farms began over 40 years ago with a little girl named Judy, whose love for horses was almost instinctive. Long before she could walk, Judy was riding horses, discovering a connection with these majestic animals that would shape her life. Her passion led her to the world of equestrian competition, where she excelled in the thrilling sport of show jumping. As her skills grew, so did her dream of creating a place where horses could thrive and riders could learn the art of horsemanship.
That dream became a reality when she and her husband, Jim, founded Westwind Farms. Together, they built more than just a farm; they built a community where horses were cherished, and riders of all levels could pursue their love for equestrian sports.
Judy’s legacy of passion and dedication continued with her daughter, Shawn, who, like her mother, started riding horses at a young age. Shawn developed a deep bond with horses and an unwavering commitment to their care and training. Today, Shawn is the head trainer at Westwind, where she has made her mark in the hunter/jumper discipline of equestrian riding. Her accomplishments in the arena are matched only by her dedication to each horse and rider she works with.
Shawn's philosophy at Westwind is simple: horses are family, and every rider deserves personalized attention. Whether she’s preparing a horse for competition or helping a new rider find their confidence, Shawn brings a warmth and expertise that reflects the values her parents instilled in her.
What began with Grandma Judy’s early love for horses has blossomed into a multi-generational passion. At Westwind Farms, we’re proud of our history, but even prouder of the connections we continue to foster between horses and the people who love them.
